New Age Cosmic Chaos

Thousands of people who have been ensnared by the teachings of the New Age movement are waking up to the realization that they are now hostages to Satan and his demons.  Others are still deceived, believing that they have come to a new understanding of themselves by tapping into the hidden powers of the universe.  Let’s think about the subtlety of Satan’s trap and then point the way out of his mystical maze.  Fortunately, Christ’s power can destroy his clever grip on the lives of those who admit their need for help. — Erwin W. Lutzer

Welcome to my page responding to the New Spirituality, vis-a-vis, the “new age movements.” Did you know that there are churches that are already incorporating New Age forms of “Spiritual Formation,” contemplative prayer, yoga, centering, the law of attraction, mindfulness, or meditation to cleanse the mind and bring peace and energy to the body. These practices are rooted straight out of New Age teaching. They are not biblical, yet Richard Foster and others have successfully leavened some of these into many churches.

The “new spirituality” is what is known as the New Age movements. “New age” ideas can be traced to Eastern religious traditions such as Hinduism, Taoism and Buddhism. So much so that many of us in the counter cult world, over the years, have called “Hinduism in a three piece suit.

There is a great number of people in the New Age movements (NAM) that do not like that label — while others would not even consider themselves part of the movements. These new spirituality (vis-a-vis New Age) movements are eclectic and diverse. There is no hierarchy, doctrine or organized membership. They believe man’s basic nature is good and divine. Moreover, they believe in evolutionary godhood and that man will soon see himself as god. New Agers have an interest in Eastern mysticism and hold to a belief in reincarnation. Their “theology” is based in diversity, feel-goodism, universal tolerance, and philosophical and moral relativism.

Fast Facts:

  • The new spirituality is based in esotericism, i.e. private enlightenment through mystical spiritual experiences and spiritual searching.
  • It is characterized by alternative approaches to traditional Western culture.
  • Those in this worldview call the earth Gaia or “Mother Earth.” This is their goddess and the “creator and giver of birth to the Earth and all the Universe,” thus she is to be revered and respected, even worshiped.
  • Man and nature on an equal “playing field.” Nature is part of God and through Nature all people can unite, by the false understanding that man can pursue to be divine and one with nature.
  • The human potential movement is what is a cultivation of extraordinary potential that believed to be largely untapped in most people.

Christian Answers for the New Age (CANA)– Are you exploring different paths that claim to lead to truth or to holistic spirituality? Or maybe you are wondering about the supernatural. If you are exploring or just mildly curious, please check out the information on this site. Be open to it and see for yourself what is here. Don’t let any preconceived ideas be a barrier. Your exploration may lead to something interesting. To read her story, click on “Marcia’s Story.”

The Cornwall Alliance – The Cornwall Alliance for the Stewardship of Creation is a network of Christian theologians, natural scientists, economists, and other scholars educating for Biblical earth stewardship, economic development for the poor, and the proclamation and defense of the good news of salvation by God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection.

Doreen VIrtue – Doreen Virtue is a born-again Christian who was saved out of new age deception in 2017. Raised in the heretical religion, Christian Science, Doreen wandered went into the new age. She spent 58 years in this deception, not knowing there was anything wrong with it. While spending some time as a New Age speaker/teacher, she became the top-selling new age author at the top-selling new age publishing house. She seemed to have everything the world desires, yet she was still seeking the truth. She found it when she became a follower of Christ.

Melissa Dougherty – Christian Artist and Apologist best known for her YouTube channel as an ex new ager. Check out her Youtube channel as well.

Reasons for Jesus (Steven Bancarz) – Reasons for Jesus is an apologetics-based website dedicated to providing justification for a Biblical worldview and a rational defense for faith in Jesus Christ.  This site answers questions, responds to objections toward the Christian faith, and provides positive reasons for why Jesus is exactly who He claimed to be: The Son of God and the only means of salvation.

Berean Research’s Page on the New Age Movements: Berean Research is a resource to help Christians equip and keep themselves from falling into deception. The Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 4:3-4 warns us of a time when people will not put up with sound doctrine, but will gravitate to a great number of teachers who’ll say what their itching ears want to hear.

Watchman Fellowship – My friends at Watchman Fellowship comprise an independent Christian research and countercult apologetics ministry focusing on new religious movements, cults, the occult, and the New Age. Here are some their links:
